Unveiling the Anticipated iPhone 15 Pro: What’s in Store?
Apple will likely introduce the iPhone 15 Pro and its siblings in September. This year’s model is expected to have a few notable improvements, including USB-C, smaller bezels and rounded edges, and Dynamic Island up front.
Also rumored to be included is a dark blue color option and an action button in place of the mute switch. Let’s take a closer look at what to expect this time around.
Rumors
The iPhone 15 Pro is rumored to feature a number of big changes, including a larger battery, a more powerful processor, upgraded RAM, and a camera with the most optical zoom Apple has ever offered. Other rumors suggest a more durable titanium frame and more advanced screen technology.
While Apple transitioned away from Touch ID last year, there are rumors the iPhone 15 Pro will return to it. One of the most reliable sources for Apple leaks, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, has claimed the 2023 model will have an in-screen Touch ID sensor that works through the display (Apple has a patent for such a sensor).
Another change expected to be included is the addition of a second rear camera, allowing for 3X optical zoom. Also, Apple may offer 2TB of storage in the iPhone 15 Pro, which would be the most of any model to date. Finally, the ultrawide-band chip enabling more advanced tracking features could receive an upgrade. The rumored improvements in energy efficiency should help reduce the battery drain, which is one of the biggest problems with current iPhones.
Color Options
The iPhone 15 Pro will come in a variety of colors, according to various rumors. Generally, Apple offers more fresh and youthful colors for its standard iPhone lineup while Pro-branded models have more serious and deep color options.
For the new iphone 15 pro, a crimson red finish is rumored to replace the current dark blue option available on Pro-branded phones. The color is reportedly similar to the one that came with the Ferrari 2022 F1 car and will be quite eye-catching.
Additionally, a light green option will be offered as an additional shade for the iPhone 15 Pro. This shade would be quite different from the yellow and pink shades that are currently offered by Apple. A rumor from 9to5Mac claimed that these two color options will join the Midnight, Starlight, and [Product]RED finishes that will probably return this year.
The Pro-branded iPhones will also offer a silver finish that looks very polished and premium. However, it is not as eye-catching or in-your-face as the aforementioned colors. Additionally, a titanium grey finish is likely to replace gold as the main option for the Pro-branded iPhones this year since Apple will be moving to titanium for its chassis. The color will match well with the new chassis and should look very premium as a result.
Technological Advancements
Apple’s 2023 iPhone 15 models are expected to come with a range of technological advancements. Some of these features are rumored to be available across all iPhone 15 models while others are exclusive to the Pro versions.
Leaked CAD files from ShrimpApplePro show the Pro models will get a new unified volume button instead of separate ones and a new mute switch that’s customizable like the Action Button on the Apple Watch Ultra. The Pro versions will also see an upgrade to 6GB RAM and a more powerful Apple designed modem chip.
Another significant change will be the switch to USB-C on all Apple’s 2023 iPhone 15 models. This is due to a new law that requires Apple to make the move in Europe. The Pro versions of the iPhone 15 will also get the Dynamic Island and a slightly bigger display, according to rumors.
Apple is also working on a new type of OLED screen that could be available in the 2023 iPhone 15. This is known as the micro LED display and will have improved color and power efficiency. It isn’t expected to be a major feature on the iPhone 15 and could be offered as an option for those looking for a premium smartphone.
